“I’m delighted to be involved in this wonderful organisation and hope to be able to bring some of my personal and business experience to support the continued growth and success in supporting the needs of the women in the community”

VICE CHAIR – Peter (doc) WATSON

Peter (Doc) joined the SHIFT Board in late 2021 to volunteer his corporate governance, risk management, and strategic planning skills. Doc is an Engineer and has spent the past 35 years working in large commercial organisations both in Australia and overseas. He has held various leadership positions including seats on a number of operational boards.

Doc has been a fulltime resident in Byron for the past 7 years and is currently a Non-Executive Board member of three ASX listed companies. In these Boards Peter holds various Committee Chair and member roles including Audit and Risk, Environment Sustainability and Governance, and Strategic Development.

Doc is happily married with three adult daughters who all live and work in the Shire.

“When I first became aware of the SHIFT project I was incredibly impressed with the vision and foresight to identify the need to create a sustainable pathway for women to independence. Having three daughters has helped me look at our society and it’s imbalances through a different lens – and see the embedded barriers and difficulties faced by women. Once I started interacting with the SHIFT team, and learnt more about the work they do, I was humbled by the amount of passion, dedication, and impact the organisation has supporting the cause – with life changing results for our clients.”
